How to Calculate Your NUST NET Aggregate (2026 Guide)

Got your NET result? Now the real question is: do you have enough aggregate to get into NUST?

The NUST aggregate is not just your NET score — it is a weighted combination of three components. Here is exactly how it works.

The Official NUST Merit Formula

ComponentWeightage
NUST Entry Test (NET)75%
FSc / A-Level (Intermediate)15%
Matric / O-Level10%

Formula:

NUST Aggregate = (NET/200 × 75) + (FSc/1100 × 15) + (Matric/1100 × 10)

NET is out of 200 marks. FSc and Matric are each out of 1100 for Pre-Engineering students.

Worked Example

A student with:

  • NET Score: 165 / 200
  • FSc Marks: 1020 / 1100
  • Matric Marks: 1050 / 1100

Calculation:

  • NET component: (165 / 200) × 75 = 61.875
  • FSc component: (1020 / 1100) × 15 = 13.909
  • Matric component: (1050 / 1100) × 10 = 9.545

Total NUST Aggregate: 85.33%

A-Level Students

If you have A-Levels, IBCC converts your grades to equivalent FSc marks. Use our IBCC Calculator first, then plug the equivalent FSc percentage into the formula above.

Approximate Previous Year Closing Merits at NUST (Reference)

These are estimated closing merits from the 2024-25 admissions cycle:

ProgramCampusApprox. Closing Merit
Computer ScienceH-1287%+
Electrical EngineeringH-1286%+
Mechanical EngineeringH-1284%+
Civil EngineeringH-1282%+
Software EngineeringH-1286%+
Business StudiesH-1280%+

Merits vary each year based on applicant pool. Always check the official NUST admissions portal for current year cutoffs.

The NET Has Multiple Series

NUST offers NET in 4 series throughout the year. Your best NET score from any series is used for aggregate calculation — you do not average them. This means if you perform poorly in Series 1, you have three more attempts.

Use Our NUST Aggregate Calculator

Skip the manual math — our NUST Aggregate Calculator does all of this instantly. Enter your NET score, FSc, and Matric marks and see your exact aggregate plus an estimate of your chances for each program.

How to Improve Your Aggregate

Since NET is 75% of the merit, it is the most impactful factor:

  • 10 extra marks in NET = +3.75% aggregate
  • 50 extra marks in FSc = +0.68% aggregate

This is why students take the NET seriously and re-attempt it across multiple series.
