MDCAT 2026 Aggregate Formula — PMC Criteria Explained
MDCAT 2026 Aggregate Formula — PMC Criteria Explained
If you are applying for MBBS or BDS in Pakistan, your admission depends entirely on your merit aggregate — a composite score calculated from your Matric, FSc, and MDCAT scores. Here is exactly how it works.
The PMC Merit Formula (2026)
The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) uses the following weightages:
| Component | Weightage |
|---|---|
| MDCAT Score | 50% |
| FSc Pre-Medical Marks | 40% |
| Matric Marks | 10% |
Formula:
Aggregate = (MDCAT / 210 × 50) + (FSc / 1100 × 40) + (Matric / 1100 × 10)
Note: MDCAT 2026 is out of 210 marks. FSc and Matric are each out of 1100 for Science students.
Step-by-Step Example
A student with:
- MDCAT: 168 / 210
- FSc: 990 / 1100
- Matric: 1010 / 1100
Calculation:
- MDCAT component: (168 / 210) × 50 = 40.0
- FSc component: (990 / 1100) × 40 = 36.0
- Matric component: (1010 / 1100) × 10 = 9.18
Total Aggregate: 85.18%
Previous Year Merit Cutoffs (Reference)
These are approximate closing merits from the 2024-25 cycle:
| Medical College | Estimated Closing Merit |
|---|---|
| KEMU (King Edward) | 91%+ |
| Nishtar Medical University | 90%+ |
| Rawalpindi Medical University | 89%+ |
| DOW Medical College | 88%+ |
| Allama Iqbal Medical College | 87%+ |
| Services Institute (SIMS) | 87%+ |
Government medical college merit lists vary by province. Private colleges generally accept lower aggregates (typically 75–85%).
A-Level Students
If you completed A-Levels, IBCC equivalence is required. Your A-Level marks are converted to FSc equivalent marks using the IBCC formula before being plugged into the PMC formula.

Tips to Maximize Your Medical Aggregate
- MDCAT is worth 50% — it is the biggest lever. A 10-mark improvement in MDCAT adds 2.38% to your aggregate.
- Every FSc mark counts. Improving from 950 to 990 adds (40/1100 × 40 = 1.45%) to your aggregate.
- Know your target. Calculate your current aggregate with our Medical Aggregate Calculator and see how far you are from target colleges.
