FAST-NUCES Grading System Explained (2026) — A+ to D+
FAST-NUCES Grading System Explained (2026)
FAST-NUCES (National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences) uses an absolute grading system on a 4.0 scale — meaning your grade is based on your marks percentage, not class rank. This makes it more predictable than NUST's relative system.
FAST Grade Scale
FAST uses a 12-grade system, including an A+ grade:
| Grade | Points | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 4.0 | 90–100% |
| A | 4.0 | 85–89% |
| A- | 3.7 | 80–84% |
| B+ | 3.3 | 75–79% |
| B | 3.0 | 71–74% |
| B- | 2.7 | 68–70% |
| C+ | 2.3 | 64–67% |
| C | 2.0 | 60–63% |
| C- | 1.7 | 56–59% |
| D+ | 1.3 | 52–55% |
| D | 1.0 | 50–51% |
| F | 0.0 | Below 50% |
Key difference from NUST: FAST has A+, A-, B-, C-, and D+ grades — NUST does not.
GPA Calculation Example
Say you took 3 courses in a semester:
- Data Structures (3 CH): A (85%) → 4.0 × 3 = 12 pts
- Linear Algebra (3 CH): B+ (77%) → 3.3 × 3 = 9.9 pts
- English (2 CH): A- (82%) → 3.7 × 2 = 7.4 pts
Semester GPA = (12 + 9.9 + 7.4) / 8 = 3.66

Dean's List at FAST
Each FAST campus has slightly different criteria, but generally:
- Semester GPA ≥ 3.5 with no F grade
- No academic disciplinary action that semester
Probation and Discontinuation
- CGPA below 2.0 → academic warning / probation
- Minimum 2.0 CGPA to graduate (Bachelor's programs)
- CS and AI programs are highly competitive — many students target 3.0+ for internship and job eligibility
Attendance Policy at FAST
FAST enforces an 80% minimum attendance rule (stricter than NUST's 75%). Missing more than 20% of a course's classes can result in a grade penalty or automatic debarment from finals.

Tips for FAST Students
- Sessional marks matter a lot. FAST typically splits: Quizzes 15%, Assignments 10%, Mid-term 25%, Final 50%.
- The D to D+ gap is just 5 marks. Knowing the cut-offs helps you plan exactly what you need in the final exam.
- A+ and A are the same GPA (4.0). Once you are above 85%, the letter changes but the points do not.
